Workshop on the state of the welfare societies of the Nordic countries

There is increasing attention towards how welfare models are inspiring each other and sometimes converging. Some fear that the Nordic countries will move towards a more continental or Anglo-Saxon structure, looking more like Germany and the UK, while those countries themselves try to learn from the Nordics when it comes to policy areas like early child care etc.

The workshop will bring together experts and think tanks from the Nordic countries together with the FES to look at the current state of welfare societies and what are expected for the future. Besides the value of the workshop in itself, the event will also be used to assess whether there is scope for further comparative analytical work on welfare developments in the Nordic countries, Germany and perhaps the UK.
